Shoe Shopping is Every Woman’s Favorite Pastime

For any woman, they are as much a source of stress as of joy, as much a potential regret as a trusted friend. Shoes are not simply an accessory or a necessity; they play a pivotal role in determining a woman's overall look and projection of style and self to the world. Wherever a woman goes and whatever she does, her shoes must literally help ensure that she puts her best foot forward.

A woman's choice must at once reflect the season, her personal style, the outfit she has selected, and the occasion or event being attended. Even paired with the perfect dress or jeans, the wrong shoes simply cannot be overlooked; for the style-conscious woman the perfect flats, stilettos, even tennis shoes are a prerequisite for completing any look.

A woman's choice of shoes projects many things to the world simultaneously: her own personal style, her view of the event or occasion, and her take on the latest trends.

While in years past it was acceptable for a woman to look as though she were visiting from another region or country, in today's globally integrated economy, it is important for women to be mindful of the style of the city they are currently visiting or residing in. Wearing Birkenstocks in downtown Paris or Jack Rogers in Buenos Aires simply doesn't cut it.

Luckily for today's economically-conscious shoe-lovers, there are a few simple tips that will guarantee that no woman goes astray next time she ventures into the shoe department of the local department store. These rules will allow you to quickly master the art of shoe-shopping, while not depleting the majority of the contents of your wallet.

One o f the most important rules that every economically conscious shoe lover should live by is to consider the relative price of a potential pair of shoes, rather than the sticker price. In other words, think not just in terms of how expensive or inexpensive a pair of shoes may be; think of the other pairs that this money could potentially be put towards. Virtually since the dawn of time women have been making regrettable footwear decisions as a result of impulse buys at seductive shoe sales. The problem with purchasing "great deals" is that they often only see the light of day on the way home from the store, and from then on stay tucked neatly in the back closet. To avoid the accumulation of useless, regrettable purchases, always simply ask yourself "would I want these if they were not on sale?. If the answer is yes, then you have found a great bargain, but if it is no, leave the shoes behind and your wallet will thank you later.

A second important consideration for effective shoe-shopping is to remember to consider when to splurge on frivolity and when to opt for practicality. For shoes that are the must-have-item of the season, consult your budgetary constraints and determine how much you can allot this year, while bearing in mind that they will likely be tucked away in storage next year. Annually investing in just one or two pairs of it-shoes gives one the exhilaration of having nabbed the latest trend, while also keeping things under control in the finance department. For all of the other seasonal trends, consider buying high-quality, cheaper, reproduction versions of your favorite styles, so that you gain the same effect, but without the added stress or guilt of purchasing the originals.

Investing in the daily necessities and classic trends will ensure that you have beautiful, high-quality pieces for years to come and that you will be the envy of all of your friends.
