The fashion industry or the people that buy the clothes?

i really like fashion and i am thinking about getting into the fashion industry and making it a career. Although i want to get into fashion, i am scared that getting into the fashion industy is really hard. Is it?.....also does opening up your own clothes pay good money?.....can anyone list other fashion jobs?
